I was watching a pair of Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers come and go from their well. All of a sudden they started going crazy - making noise and laying on the ground.  I thought to myself  If I didn't know better I would guess there was a hawk near by.  Then this guy revealed himself. My wife and I are driving along a road looking for wildlife. She says " I think I see an Owl"  I say where - she says in a tree.  Well she did see and owl.   April 26, 2013 Goose Island

This owl was very tolerant of our presence. That made me think nest.

Starved rock owl prowl. When ornithologist Steven Bailey led us into the woods after his presentation, I was skeptical. When he made an owl call with his own voice I was even more so.  I heard the owl call back and I told my wife this is Fake.  I had to eat my words when I saw this owl fly in. March 15, 2014

Steve put a light near the owl so we could see it better.  March 15, 2014
